Information for Voters

You are eligible to vote in the election if you meet all of the following requirements on election day:

• you are aged 18 or older
• you are a Canadian citizen
• you are a resident of the municipality, or non-resident owner or tenant of land located in the municipality, or the spouse of an owner or tenant of land located in the municipality
• not legally prohibited from voting

Neither you nor your spouse qualify as a non-resident elector if you do not personally own or rent the property in the municipality. For example: if the property is owned by your business or your cottage is owned by a trust, you are not qualified as a non-resident elector.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has prepared a 2026 Voter's Guide which provides information for eligible electors (voters).

We encourage you to confirm that you are on the Voters List as soon as possible. Being on the list will make your voting experience easier, and help you avoid a trip to the municipal office to be added closer to the election.

If you are a resident, owner or tenant of property in Ontario, a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old and not legally prohibited from voting, you can vote in Ontario’s municipal and school board elections.

Residents who wish to confirm or update their voter information should bring two (2) pieces of identification - one (1) must be photo identification, one (1) must include the qualifying address.

School Board Support

As a property owner, you are required to support a school system even if you do not have children or your children are not currently attending school. The school board you support dictates for which school board trustees you are eligible to vote.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for maintaining information on the school support associated with your property.

• You can find which school system you are supporting on your Property Assessment Notice or through About My Property, a free, self-service application provided by MPAC

The Town of Plympton-Wyoming Council approved the use of internet and telephone voting for 2026.

The Town of Plympton-Wyoming has successfully used this voting method since 2018.

Simple Steps to Vote

Election Day is Monday, October 26, 2026. There will be a voting period leading up to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

The Voting Period is set for October 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. through to October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.

The new term of Council will be November 15, 2026 to November 14, 2030.

Eligible electors can vote online or by telephone using a computer, cell phone, tablet, laptop, or touch-tone telephone. These accessible voting options allow electors to cast their ballot from a location that is convenient for them.

Online and telephone voting provide flexibility and convenience, reduce the need to travel to a voting location, and allow electors to participate throughout the voting period.

You can vote 24/7 from anywhere between Friday, October 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. using either the online voting system or the telephone voting system.

If you need assistance, Council Chambers at the Municipal Office (546 Niagara Street in Wyoming) will be available as a Voter Assistance Centre throughout the voting period during the following hours:

On Election Day, the Clerk will declare the unofficial results. Results will be shared on the Municipal website as soon as possible once the voting period closes.

After an extended time of inactivity, your online voting session may time out. If your session times out, your ballot will not be cast and you will need to restart the voting process.

If you are voting by telephone and your call is disconnected before your ballot is submitted, your ballot will not be cast and you will need to log back in and restart the voting process.

You can access the voting system at any time during the voting period until voting closes on the final voting day. Your vote will not be cast until you complete and submit your ballot.

Yes. Whether voting online or by telephone, you may exit the voting process before submitting your ballot and return later during the voting period. When you log back in, you will need to restart the voting process from the beginning.

No. The voting system only tracks whether a Voting PIN has been used to submit a ballot. The system does not track votes by PIN, and individual ballots remain confidential.

When accessing the online voting portal, the letters HTTPS and a padlock icon will appear in the address bar, confirming a secure connection.

If you receive a message indicating that the site's digital certificate does not match the address where it connects to (or a similar message), you may be accessing a fraudulent website. If this happens, please report it to the Town of Plympton-Wyoming Help Desk immediately at 519-845-3939.

Electors voting by telephone should use only the official telephone voting number provided in their Voter Information Letter (VIL). If you have concerns about the legitimacy of the number or your voting credentials, please contact the Municipality before proceeding.
