Sump Pump Disconnect and Backwater Installation Grant Program

As of April 1,2023, the Town will be offering a Sump Pump Disconnect and Backwater Valve Installation Grant Program to residents in high risk areas within the Township. The program will allow residents to apply for a grant of up to $3,000.00 to help cover the costs of having a backwater valve installed and/or having your sump pump disconnected from the sanitary sewer.

Removing sump pumps from the sanitary sewer will reduce the likelihood of the sewer becoming overwhelmed during a rainfall event. The installation of a backwater valve will reduce the risk of sewage entering into a dwelling if a sanitary sewer becomes overwhelmed.

An application package will be made available at the Municipal office on April 1, 2023, for anyone who wishes to apply for the program. You can also download the package here. The Town will review and approve each application on a case-by-case basis, providing all requirements of the application are met, with preference being given to houses located in high risk areas of the municipality that have a history of wastewater backups.
