Short-Term Rental Licence Applications are now being Accepted

At the April 29th 2025 Council Meeting, Council approved Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law 20 of 2025 and associated Zoning By-law and Official Plan AmendmentsStaff was directed to implement the Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law program.   

All Short-Term Rental Operators are expected to be licensed and in compliance with the noted By-law by October 1st 2025.

Applications for Short-Term Rental Licenses will be open Wednesday, August 13th 2025.  Applications will be posted here on the website and will be available by calling (519) 845-3939 or stopping by the Municipal Office at 546 Niagara Street in Wyoming.

After the October 1st 2025 deadline, enforcement of the Licensing By-law will commence.   As a part of the Short-Term Licensing Program a 24/7 complaints hotline will be established to receive complaints regarding compliance issues or to request by-law enforcement.  More information will be updated on this webpage prior to October 1st 2025.

Take Notice that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming will hold a Public Meeting on Tuesday April 29th, 2025, at 7:00p.m. at the Town Council Chambers to consider the new Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law. Subsequently, proposed Official Plan & Zoning By-law Amendments under Sections 22 & 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, will also be considered.

Short-Term Rental Public Meeting - July 2024

Take Notice that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming will hold a Public Meeting on Monday, July 29th, 2024, at 6:00p.m. at the Town Council Chambers to consider a proposed Official Plan Amendment under Section 22 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, will also be considered.

The Proposed Official Plan Amendment would amend the Town of Plympton-Wyoming Official Plan to enable regulation and enforcement of Short-Term Rentals.

Should you wish to participate virtually, you must register in advance to MBaird@plympton-wyoming.ca by 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 29th, 2024, to receive instructions on virtual attendance.

Short-Term Rental Public Meeting - May 2024

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming will hold a Public Meeting on Monday, May 27th, 2024, at 6:00p.m. at the Town Council Chambers to consider a Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law, being By-law 116 of 2023. Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law Discussion

At the February 26th, 2024 Planning Council meeting Council passed a motion directing staff to amend the DRAFT Licensing By-law and to bring it back along with a corresponding Zoning By-law Amendment and Official Plan Amendment at a future public meeting. 

A date has not yet been set for the above noted public meeting. 

Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law DISCUSSION

A report regarding a DRAFT Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law was discussed by Council on Monday, December 11th, 2023 at the Planning Council meeting.

The below noted public meetings will take place before or at the same time the Licensing By-law is considered. 


Short-Term Rental Public Meeting - POSTPONED

TAKE NOTICE that a Statutory Public Meeting will NOT be held on November 27th, 2023, despite a previous notice to that effect that appeared in the November 2nd, 2023 edition of the Independent Newspaper and on this webpage.

The meeting will be proceeding at a future date that has yet to be determined. Notice will be circulated via newspaper, and the Town’s website and Facebook page once a date has been confirmed.

Short-Term Rental Open-Houses

The Town of Plympton-Wyoming held two open-houses on June 20th and July 18th, 2023 to gather residents feedback on the communities needs and wants regarding short-term rentals. The community engagement and feedback from these open houses has been recorded and is available for public viewing below.

A Special Council meeting will be held on Monday September 25th, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. for Council to direct Planning Staff on short-term rentals. The meeting will be held in the Town Council Chambers located at 546 Niagara Street, Wyoming, Ontario, N0N 1T0. A public meeting will be held at a future date, where the public is invited to speak, provide correspondence and feedback.

There is general etiquette that all properties are expected to adhere to in Plympton-Wyoming. This includes:

Parked vehicles are not permitted in front of driveways, where they block traffic, or on boulevards where no parking signs are present.

  • Contact Town Staff to submit a parking complaint. The Town can enforce parking infractions through the Traffic and Parking By-law. 
  • If parked vehicles have created a safety concern by blocking traffic, please contact our local Police Detachment at 519-882-1011. Please be mindful that the police may be busy, and may not be able to respond to the call right away.

All properties are expected to be maintained to a reasonable standard. Complaints regarding a properties appearance, such as long grass or clutter, can be made to By-law Enforcement. The Town can enforce the tidiness of a property through the Tidy Yards By-law.

If a neighbouring property being operated as a short-term rental is causing mischief, making excessive noise or is cause one a loss of enjoyment of their property, contact our local Police Detachment at 519-882-1011. Please be mindful that the police may be busy, and may not be able to respond to the call right away. The Town does not have a noise By-law, therefore the Town cannot intervene/enforce any matters relating to noise. 

If a neighbouring property being operated as a short-term rental is causing someone a fear for their safety, causing harassment, or is creating an emergency situation, seek safety and contact the emergency dispatch by calling 9-1-1.
