Open Air Burn Ban in Effect

The Town wishes to advise residents that an Open Air Burn Ban is now in effect due to current poor air quality conditions.

In accordance with Open Air Burn By-Law 17 of 2025, no person shall start, maintain, or permit an open-air burn when a Smog Alert/Poor Air Quality Day has been declared. As a result, all open-air burning activities are prohibited until further notice, and any previously issued burn permits are revoked.

The burn ban has been implemented to help protect public health and reduce additional air pollution during this period of poor air quality. Residents are reminded that smoke from outdoor burning can further impact air conditions and increase health risks for vulnerable individuals.

Town staff will continue to monitor air quality conditions. The burn ban will remain in effect until conditions improve and it is deemed safe to resume open-air burning activities.

Updates regarding the status of the burn ban will be shared through the Town website and official social media channels.

We appreciate the cooperation of all residents in helping keep our community safe.
