Council Highlights
Wyoming, ON – At its Planning Council Meeting on Monday, September 28th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:
- Held a Public Meeting regarding an application for a Zoning By-law Amendment for 5272 Egremont Road, approved Zoning By-law Amendment 81 of 2026 and passed By-law 81 of 2026 being a By-law to amend By-law 97 of 2003.
- Held a Public Meeting regarding an application for a Zoning By-law Amendment for 6868 Hillsboro Road, approved Zoning By-law Amendment 82 of 2026 and passed By-law 82 of 2026 being a By-law to amend By-law 97 of 2003.
- Held a Public Planning Meeting regarding the Comprehensive Zoning Amendment.
- Received a presentation by Will Nywening, Senior Planning Official, Lambton County and NPG Planning Solutions regarding the ongoing review of the Town’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law 97 of 2003.
- Council received presentations and questions from members of the public. Council deferred a decision with respect to the draft updated Zoning By-law Amendment and directed staff to produce a summarized report from comments received.
- Council directed staff to undertake a review of land use policies for data centres and provide Council an Interim Control By-law for Council’s consideration.
Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, September 30th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:
- Held a moment of silence in recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day.
- Heard an update regarding the voter registration process.
- Received a report regarding the Not-for-Profit Tax Relief Requests and approved the relief of the municipal portion of the 2026 property taxes for the Wyoming Lions Club, Model Lodge IOOF, Burns' Masonic Temple, and Harvest Time Bride Tabernacle.
- Received a report regarding the Town of Plympton-Wyoming Economic Development Strategic Plan 2027-2031 and endorsed said plan.
- Received a report regarding the Camlachie Community Centre Feasibility Study.
- Received a report regarding the Memorial Tree and Bench Policy - Draft Update and approved the updated Policy, as amended.
- Received a report regarding submitting an application to the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant and supported an application to fund the purchase of two Portable Changeable Messaging Signs.
- Received a report regarding the Hanging Pole Christmas Light Replacements and approved the purchase of up to 21 new Hanging Pole Christmas Lights through Dekra-Lite Canada to be installed in Wyoming and Camlachie.
- Received a report regarding the Proposal for Engineering Services - Lakeside and Gordon Reconstruction project, accepted the proposal from R. Dobbin Engineering in the amount of $40,000 plus HST and passed By-law 92 of 2026 to facilitate the agreement.
- Received a report regarding the Permission to Access and Modify Town Lands Agreement – Huron Shores Optimists Basketball Court and passed By-law 93 of 2026 to facilitate the agreement.
- Received a report regarding a petition for incorporating new storm sewers on London Street and appointed R. Dobbin Engineering Inc. under Section 4 of the Drainage Act to produce a report based on the petition received July 16th, 2026.
- Received a report regarding a petition for a new branch of the Keating Drain and appointed M. Gerrits Consulting Inc. under Section 4 of the Drainage Act to include the request in the ongoing report, based on the petition received September 9th, 2026.
- Received a report regarding the 2027 - 2031 Cemeteries Grounds Keeping Services, accepted the contract extension proposal from Southern Comfort Landscape Design in the amount of $20,500.02 plus HST per season for the Wyoming Public Cemetery and $12,499.98 plus HST per season for the Inactive Cemeteries and passed By-law 94 of 2026 to facilitate the agreement.
- Passed By-law 95 of 2026 to appoint Ella Flynn as a Deputy Clerk.
- Passed By-law 97 of 2026 to facilitate an agreement with his Majesty the King in Right of Ontario for the Rural Ontario Development Program which would update the Town’s Community Improvement Plan to incorporate the Camlachie Business Area.
- Waived the rental fees for the Camlachie Firefighters Association to rent the Community Centre for their 2nd Annual Firefighters Ball to be held on February 20, 2027.
- Expressed their support for an open and transparent transition to the regional conservation authority, including timely information for member municipalities and the public on matters affecting local representation, services and municipal funding; And supported the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority Board’s decision to seek legal advice on the proposed transition committee terms of reference and confidentiality undertaking before determining its position.
