Accessibility

The Town of Plympton-Wyoming is committed to being fully accessible to persons with disabilities, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), by 2025. We continue to identify, remove and prevent barriers for people with disabilities to be a welcoming and inclusive community by embracing accessibility and opportunity for all.

Accessible buildings

Our accessible buildings include:

  • Municipal Office, 546 Niagara Street
  • Camlachie Community Centre, 6767 Camlachie Road
  • Camlachie Cultural Library and Museum, Camlachie Road
  • Wyoming (Pat Davidson) Library, Broadway Street

Accessible parks and trails

Our parks, trails and monuments are also accessible, including:

  • Camlachie cenotaph
  • Wyoming cenotaph
  • McKay Park (pool, splash pad and gazebo)
  • Wyoming to Reeces Corners trail

We maintain a confidential database of residents with disabilities to provide assistance during an emergency situation. To ensure your safety during an emergency, it is vital that we are aware of your individual needs. Should you wish to register, please call 519-845-3939.

As part of the AODA, the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) requires the Town to:

  • Create policies and procedures
  • Create a multi-year accessibility plan
  • Acquire goods and services that meet accessibility criteria
  • Provide staff training

The AODA includes accessibility standards for customer service. To meet these standards businesses and organizations must:

  • Provide training for all staff
  • Have policies and procedures in place
  • Offer alternate formats
  • Have a feedback mechanism
  • Provide notice of service disruptions
  • Allow service animals and support persons

Seniors and adults with disabilities can find accessible transit services through Lambton Elderly Outreach (LEO). To book trips within Lambton County, please call 1-800-265-0203.
