Message from the Mayor
To the Residents of Plympton-Wyoming,
This past weekend, Mother Nature arrived in PW (and eastern Lambton County) with a vengeance. Quite honestly, we got hit with an old-fashioned winter storm.
I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to YOU—the residents of Plympton-Wyoming—for your support and consideration. Once the significant weather event was declared, your assistance by staying off the roads was very helpful.
It allowed Public Works staff and private contractors to get the roads clear and accesses to businesses opened. EMS was able to attend medical emergencies, and it allowed help to reach those who were stranded along the way.
To members of the OPP, our firefighters, the Huron Shores Optimists, the Plympton and Wyoming Agricultural Society, and everyone at Wyoming Tree Service—thank you for your help and dedication to the community.
To the members of the St. Clair Fire Department and the Town of Petrolia, we certainly value and appreciate the use of your equipment, expertise, and manpower.
To Mayor Al Broad and the Public Works Department of Dawn-Euphemia, we appreciate your offer of assistance to your neighbours and friends in the north. That is what neighbours do!
I would also like to personally thank our EMC team and Sergeant J. Yantzi of the Lambton Detachment - OPP, for his work in a collaborative manner throughout the storm.
To the members of our Public Works Department, our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to you for being out there and for working those long hours in zero visibility to get the roads cleared and open for our community.
Thank you, and stay well.
Gary L. Atkinson
