Keep Your Recyclables from Flying Away!

When the weather forecast calls for wind, think about your blue box! On breezy days, your recyclables can end up on sidewalks, roads and waterways if they’re not packed properly.

Follow these simple steps to keep our streets clean:

Don’t overfill your blue box – leave about 7.5 cm (3 inches) of space at the top.
Heavier items go on top – place glass bottles and jars above paper and plastic containers.
Flatten, bundle, and secure cardboard – pack it carefully so it won’t blow away.
Blue plastic bags are now accepted! – use them and place them in your box
Too much recycling? Get an extra blue box or a larger one
Windy day? Consider waiting until next week – Emterra collects unlimited blue boxes weekly!

Let’s all do our part to keep our streets clean, safe, and litter-free!
