Council Highlights

Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, January 8th the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Presented Priscilla Gagne with an award to recognize her recent achievement in Judo at the 2024 Paralympics.
  • Heard a delegation from Brad Zantingh, on behalf of JN Ventures regarding drainage debentures.
  • Permitted Roll #3835.340.020.37700 to debenture their assessments on the Errol Road Branch Brain.
  • Passed a motion to reconsider motion #11 from the November 27th, 2024 Regular Council Meeting.
  • Received a report regarding an OPP False Alarm By-law and passed By-law 140 of 2024 to impose fees and charges for services or activities provided by the OPP in relation to false alarms.
  • Received a report regarding the Annual Arena User Fee Agreement with the Town of Petrolia for Greenwood Recreation Centre and defeated By-law 142 of 2024 to facilitate the agreement.
  • Received a report regarding a new Schedule of Assessment for the repair and maintenance of the Kernohan O'Donnell Drain and appointed M. Gerrits Consulting Inc. under Section 76 of the Drainage Act to produce a new schedule of maintenance for the Kernohan O'Donnell Drain.
  • Received a report regarding Requests for Drain Maintenance for the period of October 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024.
  • Received a report regarding Proposed Changes to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
  • Passed By-law 1 of 2025 being a By-law to Authorize the Borrowing of $1,000,000.00 (One Million Dollars) as temporary financing for the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
  • Passed By-law 5 of 2025 being a By-law to authorize the execution of an agreement with his Majesty the King in Right of Ontario and the Town of Plympton-Wyoming for the Fire Protection Grant.
  • Passed By-law 6 of 2025 being a By-law to appoint a Fire Chief for the Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department.
  • Passed By-law 4 of 2025 being a By-law to authorize the execution of an agreement considered in closed session.
  • Council supported the following items of correspondence:
    • Resolution from the Municipality of Kincardine regarding property taxation implications Related to Non-Market Valuation of Electricity Industry Properties.
    • Resolution from the Town of Cobalt regarding improvements to the catch and release system.
