Council Highlights

Wyoming, ON – At its Planning Council Meeting on Monday, July 29th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Received and endorsed a report regarding a request for an extension of one-year, for Draft Plan of Subdivision Application 38T-20001.
  • Received and approved correspondence requesting a reduction of securities to $10,000 for a site plan application for 510 Main St.
  • Received and approved correspondence requesting a sea-can to be temporarily placed at 731 Broadway St for a maximum period of 6 months.
  • Held a Public Meeting regarding Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law 116 of 2023 and Official Plan Amendment 57.
  • Received a staff report regarding the Short-Term Rental (STR) Licensing By-Law - Options to Move Forward.
  • Defeated Short-Term Rental Licensing By-law 116 of 2023.
  • Directed staff to bring back a Zoning By-law Amendment to only permit owner occupied short-term rentals, with grandfathering of current STRs as legal non-conforming uses.
  • Directed staff to draft a simplified registration By-law for owner occupied short-term rentals and legal non-conforming whole-home STRs that pre-date the corresponding owner occupied STR Zoning By-law Amendment.
  • Deferred a staff report regarding Official Plan Amendment 57, the Amendment itself, and By-law 66 of 2024 to ensure the proposed Official Plan Amendment would align with the requested Zoning By-law Amendment and future registration By-law.

 

Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, July 31st, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Heard a delegation from Larry Currie regarding traffic and safety concerns on Fleming Road and Lakeshore Road.
  • Received a report regarding the Town of Plympton-Wyoming Annual Grants to the Town of Petrolia and the Municipality of Lambton Shores, elected to continue with providing a grant, and directed staff to work with the adjacent municipalities to formalize the grants through an agreement.
  • Passed a motion regarding Underserviced Cellular Communication Services in Rural and Urban Centres in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming, other Rural and Urban Centres across Lambton County, and beyond.
  • Received a report regarding the Restoration Works for the O'Brien Branch 'A' Drain Quotations, accepted the revised quotation from Cope Construction for $58,921.96 including HST, and passed By-law 101 of 2024.
  • Received a report regarding a 2024 Cemetery Price List Comparison.
  • Received a report regarding a Façade and Structural Improvement Program Submission for 600 Broadway Street and approved the application for funding.
  • Received a report regarding Second and Jane Street Asphalt Resurfacing and accepted the quote from Sevcon Paving in the amount of $123,180.00 plus HST as an extension to an existing contract.
  • Completed a third reading and passed By-law 56 of 2024 for the Montgomery Drain - Perry and Harrison Branch Drains being a By-Law to provide for drainage works in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming, in the County of Lambton.
  • Completed a third reading and passed By-law 67 of 2024 for the Maple Street Drain being a By-Law to provide for drainage works in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming, in the County of Lambton.
  • Completed a third reading and passed By-law 55 of 2024 for the Stonehouse Drain being a By-Law to provide for drainage works in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming, in the County of Lambton.
  • Passed Collection By-law 96 of 2024 for the Bonnie Doon Creek Drain and imposed a pro-rata levy on the ratepayers according to the attached Schedule of Assessment which will be collected in the manner outlined within the By-law.
  • Passed Collection By-law 97 of 2024 for the Phippen Drain – Plympton Street East Branch Drain and imposed a pro-rata levy on the ratepayers according to the attached Schedule of Assessment which will be collected in the manner outlined within the By-law.
  • Passed Collection By-law 98 of 2024 for the Broadway Street Drain – Plympton Street West Branch Drain and imposed a pro-rata levy on the ratepayers according to the attached Schedule of Assessment which will be collected in the manner outlined within the By-law.
  • Passed By-law 99 of 2024 for Maintenance, Repair and Improvement of Drainage Works within the Town of Plympton-Wyoming for the 2023 year and that the cost of works completed be assessed to property owners based on the attached schedules of assessment and collected in the manner outlined within the By-law.
  • Received correspondence from the Plympton-Wyoming Agricultural Society and declared the Annual Fall Fair occurring September 13th-15th, 2024 a “Municipally Significant” event in accordance with the regulation for a Special Occasion Permit by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
  • Held a Court of Revision meeting for the Braaksma Drain Extension & Branch No. 4.
  • Council supported the following items of correspondence:
    • Resolution from the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury regarding Ontario Long-Service Medals
