Council Highlights

Wyoming, ON – At its Planning Council Meeting on Monday, May 27th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Received and approved a report regarding Deeming By-law 58 of 2024 for three properties on Creekside Dr and one property on Elizabeth Way to deregister said lots from a Plan of Subdivision.
  • Received and approved a report regarding an assumption of 6749 Hummingbird Lane (consent B-02/21) and passed By-law 61 of 2024 to assume the works and services on a portion of Hummingbird Lane.
  • Held a public meeting and received comments from the public regarding Short-Term Rentals (STRs):
    • Received a report regarding Short-Term Rentals Licensing By-law 116 of 2023 and deferred the By-law with direction to Town staff to seek legal advice regarding an owner-occupied approach to the By-law.
    • The statutory public meeting regarding Official Plan Amendment (OPA) 57 being By-law 66 of 2024 was deferred subject to reevaluation alongside the licensing By-law.
    • The statutory public meeting regarding the Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA) application 121 of 2023 was deferred subject to reevaluation alongside the licensing By-law.
    • Council Supported the following items of Correspondence from the Western Ontario Wardens Caucus:

Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, May 29th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Received a report regarding the Repeal of By-Law 28 of 2022 being a by-law for the Authorization the Execution of an Agreement between the Town of Petrolia and the Town of Plympton-Wyoming and repealed said by-law.
  • Received a report regarding a Petition for Drainage Works by the Road Authority and appointed M. Gerrits Consulting Inc. under Section 4(1)(c) of the Act to prepare a report on the matter.
  • Received a report regarding a Request for Improvement of the Barnes Drain by the Road Authority and appointed R. Dobbin Engineering Inc. under Section 78 of the Drainage Act to produce a report based on the improvement request received May 10, 2024.
  • Defeated a report regarding the 2024 Benefits Renewal June 1, 2024, incorporating the 2024 renewal and a mental health and wellness change.
  • Directed staff to proceed with the renewal of the approved 2024 benefit renewal.
  • Passed a motion to reconsider mental health and wellness benefits for staff with the 2025 budget.
  • Received a report regarding the Errol Woods Playground Equipment, approved a cash-in-lieu of playground equipment in the amount of $43,000.00, and approved allocating additional funds in the 2025 capital budget to construct a new playground within the Errol Woods subdivision to a higher level of service.
  • Received a report regarding an application for funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation: Seed Grant and supported an application for a Parks and Recreation Master Plan for the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
  • Received a report regarding the Hillsboro Road Bridge Rehabilitation, accepted the proposal by BM Ross & Associates in the amount of $189,000 plus HST to perform detailed design and construction administration for the Hillsboro Road, and passed By-law 62 of 2024 to facilitate the agreement.
  • Passed By-law 35 of 2024 for the Whiting Drain being a By-Law to provide for drainage works in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
  • Passed By-law 64 of 2024 being a By-law to authorize the execution of an agreement between The Inn of the Good Shepherd and the Town of Plympton-Wyoming for the Use of Public Facilities for a Mobile Food Market.
  • Passed By-law 63 of 2024 being a By-law to authorize the execution of an agreement between GHD Digital and the Town of Plympton-Wyoming for the migration of the Town's website to their Govstack platform.
  • Passed By-law 65 of 2024 being a By-law to appoint an Alternate Deputy Clerk for the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
  • Received correspondence from Aberarder School and waived the rental fees for Aberarder School to rent the Camlachie Community Centre for their Grade 8 graduation which will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
  • Received correspondence from the Plympton-Wyoming Truck and Tractor Pull Committee, declared the Plympton-Wyoming Agricultural Society’s Tractor Pull a “Municipally Significant” event in accordance with the regulation for a Special Occasion Permit by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and approved the use of equipment to assist with the event.
  • Council supported the following items of correspondence:
    • Multi-Municipal Energy Working Group regarding unwilling wind turbine hosts.
