Council Highlights
Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, May 8th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:
- Passed By-law 54 of 2024, being a By-Law to Authorize the Execution of an Agreement between Dylan Cox and the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
- Received a report regarding a Section 4 Petition for 476 Zone Street.
- Received a report regarding a Section 4 Petition for 7080 Bonnie Doone Road.
- Received a report and presentation regarding the status of the municipal Emergency Management Program and ongoing projects.
- Received a report regarding the Enrollment of Non-Full-Time (NFT) Firefighters into OMERS but did not endorse enrolling Firefighters under the OMERS plan and did not direct staff to proceed with issuing enrollment forms, the collection of funds, the re-allocation of reserves to cover the 2023 payment, and carry out the necessary remittances.
- Received a report regarding the Michigan Line Reconstruction - Phase 3 Tender Results, accepted the tender from Sevcon Paving in the amount of $579,457.76 net HST, and passed By-law 51 of 2024.
- Received a report regarding the Plympton Wastewater Treatment Plant Outfall Rehabilitation - Geotechnical and Bathymetric Survey Recommendation and approved the quote by Englobe in the amount of $78,800 plus HST to perform a geotechnical investigation and the quote by Monteith & Sutherland in the amount of $8,700 plus HST to perform a bathymetric survey.
- Received a report regarding a Website Transition Proposal and directed staff to bring forward a by-law and agreement to transition from iCreate to Govstack for Council's consideration.
- Received a report regarding Council Chambers Upgrades and directed staff to touch-up and paint Council Chambers and carry out electrical upgrades.
- Received a report regarding an Application to the Ontario Inclusive Community Grant and supported an application for improvements to the accessibility of Highland Glen beach.
- Passed By-law 21 of 2024, being a By-Law for the Confederation Line East and Norman Street South Drain and Extension of the King Anderson Drain 2024 being a By-Law to provide for drainage works in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
- Passed By-law 34 of 2024 being a By-Law to Provide for the Management and Control of the Wyoming Public Cemetery and all Inactive Cemeteries in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
- Passed By-law 53 of 2024 being a By-Law to provide for a final tax levy for the year 2024 for properties in Residential and Farmland, Farmland Waiting Development, Multi-Residential, New Multi-Residential, Commercial, Shopping Centre, Farmland, Pipeline, Industrial, Large Industrial, Landfill, Parking Lot, and Managed Forest Classes, and Small-Scale On-Farm Commercial & Industrial Business First and Second Subclasses and to provide for the payment of taxes and to provide for penalty and interest of 1.25 percent per month.
- Passed By-law 50 of 2024 being a By-Law to Authorize the Execution of an Agreement between Aaron James Schieman, Olivia Bondy, and Kendra Petley and the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
- Received correspondence from Errol Village School and waived the rental fees for Errol Village School to rent the Camlachie Community Centre for their Grade 8 graduation which will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024.
- Received correspondence from Lambton EMS and allowed an exception to Lambton EMS for the definition of a Special Event under By-law 6 of 2024 to allow a mobile food truck to operate on public property (Camlachie Community Centre/Arnold Minielly Park) for a private event occurring May 21st, 2024. As well as waived the rental fees for the event.
- Held a Court of Revision meeting for the Whiting Drain.
- Council supported the following items of correspondence:
- St. Catherines regarding Provincial Regulations needed to Restrict Keeping of Non-Native (exotic) Wild Animals.
