Council Highlights

Wyoming, ON – At its Planning Council Meeting on Monday, March 25th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Received an information report regarding licensing versus registration of short-term rentals
  • Received a report regarding request for exemptions from Property Standards and Tidy Yards By-Laws for residential developments and directed staff to continue to apply the Property Standards and Tidy Yards By-Laws to residential developments under construction.
  • Received a report regarding removal of holding zone from lands known municipally as 575 to 593 Plympton Street and passed By-law 31 of 2024.
  • Received a report regarding deeming Main Street as a public highway and passed By-law 32 of 2024.
  • Held a Public Meeting on behalf of the County of Lambton regarding a Draft Plan of Subdivision located east of Broadway Street, and south of Isabella Street and directed staff to advise the County of Lambton that the Draft Plan of Subdivision known as 38T-23001 be recommended for approval subject to the conditions included in report SR-24-059 dated March 18, 2024.
  • Declared a triangular portion of Concession Front Part Lot 18; RP 25R9964 Part 1, shown as Part 7 on Plan 25R-11385, as surplus and directed staff to proceed with the process of disposition of the surplus lands by way of land trade.

Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, March 27th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Presented provincial long service awards for 25 years of service to Plympton-Wyoming Volunteer Firefighters William Davidson and Michael Healy.
  • Received a delegation from the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) regarding the SCRCA budget process.
  • Discussed options for a back up camera system for electronic meeting broadcasting and supported staff’s recommendation of using the Owl camera to record a meeting and upload it to YouTube after, if there are technical difficulties in the future.
  • Received a report regarding a Petition for Drainage Works by Owners – Lot 16, Concession 2 (476 Zone Street), accepted the petition as filed, and appointed R. Dobbin Engineering Inc. to make an examination of the area and prepare a report on the matter in conjunction with the current Stonehouse Drain report.
  • Received a report regarding the McAndrew Drain - Kiff Branch Tender Results, accepted the corrected tender from Hornblower Enterprises Ltd. for $43,972.82 including HST, and passed By-law 29 of 2024.
  • Received a report regarding the Falconer-Ramsey Drain and Lower Aberarder Creek Tender Results, accepted the tender from McNally Excavating Ltd. for $925,131.00 including HST, and passed By-law 28 of 2024.
  • Received a report regarding the Confederation Line Reconstruction Tender Results and Recommendation, accepted the tender from Cope Construction Inc. for $1,215,859.80 without HST, and passed By-law 30 of 2024.
  • Received a report regarding a Request for an Encroachment Agreement for the Installation of Two Gates within a Town owned Alley and directed staff to prepare an encroachment agreement and associated By-Law.
  • Received and endorsed a report regarding Conducting Live Fire Training with a donated house located on Egremont Road.
  • Received a report regarding Essentials of Municipal Fire Protection - A Decision Makers Guide Training for Members of Council and other Senior Staff and directed staff to schedule the training for April 11th, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Received a report regarding the Plympton-Wyoming Fire Master Plan Update.
  • Received a report regarding Educational Information on Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Detectors.
  • Received a report regarding My Main Street Program 2024 - Community Activator Stream and approved the submission of a grant application for improvements to downtown Wyoming and Christmas in the Village.
  • Supported local action by Lambton Public Health to reduce the risk of West Nile virus and authorized any permit application for West Nile virus control submitted to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change from an appropriately licensed exterminator, to apply a larvicide into catch basins or surface water:
    • located within and owned/managed by the Town of Plympton-Wyoming; and
    • located on private land that drain into the storm drain system or water ways located within the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.
    • Council supported the following items of correspondence:
      • The City of Quinte West regarding Infrastructure Funding for New Housing
      • Town of Lincoln regarding Library & Museum Funding Increase
      • The Township of Amaranth regarding Operational Budget Funding
      • Loyalist Township regarding a Request to the Province to Amend Blue Box Regulation for 'Ineligible' Sources.
      • Directed staff to review the current dog tag program and bring back options for their consideration.
