Council Highlights

Wyoming, ON – At its Planning Council Meeting on Monday, February 26th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Received and approved a report regarding Short-Term Rentals and directed staff to amend the draft Licensing By-law for reconsideration and to prepare the required Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments for the required public meeting.
  • Received a report regarding Zoning By-law Amendment 3 of 2023 affecting 0 Hillsboro Rd, and denied By-law 3 of 2023 to rezone the subject property from Residential 5 (R5) to a site-specific Residential 7(1)  (R7(1)) Zone.
  • Received a report regarding Professional Group Inc. assumption and passed By-law 20 of 2024 to assume the works and services of Trail’s Edge Subdivision, Registered Plan 25R-11076, Parts 1-6.
  • Directed staff to prepare a short-term rental registration by-law for consideration.

Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, February 28th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Heard a delegation regarding the 2024 Camlachie Summer Send-Off, and directed staff to prepare a Use of Public Facilities Agreement for the event.
  • Received a report regarding the Boil Water Advisory - Cause and Future Mitigation.
  • Received a report regarding the Huron Shores Optimist Community Project Proposal and:
    • Endorsed partnering with the Huron Shores Optimist to increase the recreational opportunities in the Camlachie area and supports the Huron Shores Optimist Club in their fundraising activities
    • Directs staff to work with the Huron Shores Optimist to form a committee consisting of members of Council, Town Staff, Huron Shores Optimist and the Camlachie Athletic Association to coordinate public consultation, refine the facility design, obtain accurate quotations, formalize the budget and develop a funding plan.
    • Requires that a minimum 50% of the project funding be raised through fundraising activities by the Huron Shores Optimist prior to commencing the project and that alternative funding arrangements must be considered by the Huron Shores Optimist.
    • Directs staff to work with the Hurons Shores Optimist and the Town's Legal Counsel to develop an agreement to facilitate the project
    • That staff be directed to develop a budget for a Parks and Recreation Master Plan to be considered during the 2025 Budget Deliberations.
    • Received a report regarding a request for Drain Improvement for the Bannister Drain and appointed R. Dobbin Engineering Inc. under Section 78 of the Drainage Act to produce a report.
    • Received a report regarding 2024 Dust Control Services and extended the 2023 contract with Den-Mar Brines Limited to supply, haul and apply 250 flake equivalent tonnes at a total cost of $65,750.00 plus HST.
    • Received a report regarding the Creation of the Position of Training Coordinator within Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department and supported the creation of a Training Coordinator Position.
    • Received correspondence relating to the 2024 Bluewater Triathlon, approved the outlined route, and directed staff to provide traffic signs and barriers for the event.
    • Council supported the following items of correspondence:
      • Town of Petrolia - ROMA & OGRA Return to Combined Conference
      • County of Renfrew – Water and Wastewater
      • Nominated Dokter Masonry for the County of Lambton’s Heritage Champion Award

Wyoming, ON – At the Special Council Meeting on Monday March 4th, 2024, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Passed a motion authorizing Norma Roddick-Preece, Treasurer/Deputy CAO, to act as signing authority in regards to the Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG).
