Council Highlights
Wyoming, ON – At Special Council Meetings on Thursday January 18th and Thursday, January 25th, and a Regular Council Meeting on January 25th, 2024, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:
- Council approved the revised 2024 Budget reflecting a 4.0% tax rate increase. The 2024 Budget includes the following:
- Camlachie Firehall improvements including showers, new washer, new extractor, new gear racks and AODA improvements.
- Ongoing restoration of 1932 Chev Pumper
- New single axle dump truck and plow ordered in 2022
- Replacement of single axle dump truck and plow ordered in 2023, one ton dump truck and water trailer for public works department
- Michigan Line Reconstruction Phase 3
- Final phase of Plympton Street and Front Street West Reconstruction
- Engineering of Hillsboro Road Bridge Replacement
- Ongoing improvements to road side drainage, road resurfacing, sidewalks, and trail.
- Wastewater System repairs and improvements, collection system upgrades, I & I remediation and continuation of the sump pump disconnect and backflow valve grant program
- Water system repairs and improvements and water meter and reader replacement project continuation
- Urban Confederation Line east reconstruction Phase 1
- Park improvements at Plumb Park, playground soft surface replacements, Lakeshore Park parking lot improvements, fencing extension at Centennial Park, replacement of swing at O’Brien Park and Canton Park Building AODA washroom improvements
- Reserve transfer for future Wyoming pool replacement and Arnold Minielly Park AODA Washrooms
- Continuance with entrance signage and wayfinding signage for many parks and buildings
- Comprehensive Zoning By-law Update
- Continued stone restoration in the active and inactive cemeteries
- Special Events Committee continuing with community events in 2024
- Passed By-law 2 of 2024, being a By-law to set the Water and Sewer Rates for 2024 with a 3.6% increase to water rates and a 4.4% increase to sewer rates.
- Provided comments and endorsed in principle the Lambton Emergency Medical Services Master Plan
- Received a report regarding the 2023 Wyoming Public Cemetery Year-End Update.
- Passed By-law 11 of 2024, being a By-law to Appoint Officers, Board and Committee Members and Employees.
- Supported correspondence from the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS) requesting the province to fund the creation of a Municipal Equipment Operator Course.
