Council Highlights

Wyoming, ON – At a Special Council Meeting on Wednesday, March 5th 2025, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:

Council approved the revised 2025 Budget reflecting a 3% tax rate increase.  The 2025 Budget includes the following:

o          Updating and improving the pager and communication system in the fire service.

o          Increasing training programs to ensure all firefighters meet the forthcoming legislated requirements.

o          New roadside tractor with mower, new float trailer, and a pickup truck replacement.

o          Michigan Line Reconstruction Phase 4.

o          Confederation Line reconstruction Phase 2.

o          Engineering of Hillsboro Road Bridge Replacement.

o          Money to reserves for future Public Works Facility

o          Ongoing construction work on drains, hardtop resurfacing, sidewalks and trail improvements.

o          Wastewater System repairs and improvements, collection system upgrades, I & I remediation and continuation of the sump pump disconnect and backflow valve grant program.

o          Wyoming WWTP upgrades on the headworks.

o          Plympton WWTP outfall rehabilitation.

o          Water system repairs and improvements, water sampling stations installs, and water meter and reader replacement project wrap up.

o          Park improvements at Blue Point and Errol Woods Parks, playground soft surface replacements, Windcliff Lane parking lot improvements, Wyoming Pool Rehabilitation, McEwen parking lot improvements and Canton Park Building AODA washroom improvements.

o          Reserve transfer for AODA improvements at Arnold Minielly Park.

o          A new Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

o          Continuance with entrance signage and wayfinding signage for many parks, buildings, cemeteries, etc.

o          Continuing with OP and Comprehensive Zoning By-law Update.

o          Start on update of the Development Charges By-law.

o          AODA updates at several facilities within the Town.

o          Continuation of the Community Improvement Plan for the betterment of the Town.

o          Continued stone restoration in the active and inactive cemeteries.

o          Start of reserve for cemetery expansion in Wyoming.

o          Special Events Committee continuing with community events in 2025.

o          Funds for economic development within the Town.

o          Increased funds for asset management reserve.

Council made a one-time donation of $25,000 to the Plympton-Wyoming Historical Society.

Council also passed By-law 10 of 2025, being a By-law to set the Water and Sewer Rates for 2025 with a 3.6% increase for water and 4.4% increase for sewer.
