Council Highlights
Wyoming, ON – At its Regular Council Meeting on Wednesday, August 28th, the Council of the Town of Plympton-Wyoming:
- Passed By-law 107 of 2024 being a By-law to enter into an agreement with the Huron Shores Optimists for the use of public facilities for the Camlachie Summer Send Off and waived the $80.00 agreement fee.
- Received a report regarding the Proposed Huron Shores Optimist Community Project public consultation summary.
- Received a report regarding the Defriez-Delmage Drain Construction Overages and directed staff in the future to communicate to ratepayers any special benefit charges preferably before they are incurred, but if this is not possible, they should be made aware of these as soon as possible.
- Considered and defeated a motion to waive the interest charges as the cost of temporary financing for the Defriez-Delmage Drain.
- Received a report regarding the Not-for-Profit Tax Relief Requests and granted relief from the municipal portion of the 2024 property taxes for the Wyoming Lions Club, Model Lodge IOOF, Burns' Masonic Temple, and Harvest Time Bride Tabernacle and directed staff to forward a list of these organizations to the County of Lambton for updates to their bylaw.
- Received a report regarding the Braaksma Drain Extension and Branch No. 4 Tender Results, accepted the tender from JLH Excavating Inc. for $61,562.40 including HST, and passed By-law 108 of 2024.
- Received a report regarding the 2023 Financial Statements and directed staff to publish the statements on the Town’s website and forward them to the applicable ministries to fulfill reporting requirements.
- Received a report regarding the 2024 Fall Newsletter and approved the distribution of the newsletter with the Final Tax Billing.
- Received a report regarding the Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department (PWFD) Semi-Annual Report of Operations and 2nd Quarter Financial Report.
- Received a report regarding an application of the Fire Protection Grant and directed staff to make an application to the grant.
- Read for a 3rd time and finally passed By-law 75 of 2024 for the Braaksma Drain Extension and Branch No. 4 being a By-Law to provide for drainage works in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming, in the County of Lambton.
- Passed By-law 109 of 2024 being a By-law to appoint Will Davidson as the Interim Acting Fire Chief for the Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department.
- Supported correspondence from the City of Quinte West regarding the Canada Community Building Fund.
