Fire Services

The Town of Plympton-Wyoming operates two fire departments in Camlachie and Wyoming, and has a contract with the Forest Fire Department.  Each department operates independently but act jointly, if required, to provide effective and efficient fire related protection, prevention and education to the ratepayers of the municipality.  Two members of Council, Councillor Ben Dekker and Councillor Ron Schenk, have been appointed by the Mayor as members of the Department's Executive Committees.  They advise as needed, and liaison with Council all current and ongoing operations and project plans.

Both Departments have been in operation for many years.  They are manned by a dedicated roster of Volunteers and strive to maintain a total of thirty firefighters on each roster.  Each department is operated by their own Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Executive Officers and Firefighters.  Camlachie and Wyoming's Executive Committees meet regularly throughout the year to plan for common issues such as training, practicing, purchasing & budgeting, etc., in order to operate efficiently without unnecessary duplication of services relating to increased costs to ratepayers.

Our Firefighters meet and train, on a regular basis, to keep their firefighting skills and rescue skills up to date.  Training regularly helps them to respond safely to an emergency situation.  These Firefighters are ready to assist in any circumstance and they are to be commended and recognized for their exemplary service.
